Product Description


All material we produce for field transplanting originates from proprietary mint line selections.



State of the Art Greenhouses

Mint propagation for customer’s orders is accomplished within our laboratory. Lab conditions offer controlled lighting and temperatures, which allow us to rapidly increase the needed quantity of plants under sterile conditions. Once these small, uniform “plantlets” have grown leaves and roots, they are moved to our greenhouses for finishing.


The plantlets are transplanted into sterile, soil-less potting mix in standard nursery flats. After approximately 4 to 6 weeks, they are ready for shipping. Plant height above the root ball is approximately 3 to 5 inches, with a root mass that is 1 ¼” x 1 ½” x 2 inches

The purpose of this table is to express equivalency of terms used by various certification agencies for seed potatoes harvested from a series of successive field plantings. For specific criteria relating to disease tolerances and other requirements, the reader is referred to the certification regulations of the agency in question.
                 

The first field planting utilizes laboratory tested stocks which may be tissue cultured plantlets, greenhouse produced minitubers, stem cuttings or line selections. Contact agencies for details as to types of stocks planted in their programs.
                 

Term used by agency for seed potatoes for a particular year in the field: C=certified, E=elite, F=foundation, N=nuclear, U=Ulhlein, PE=pre-elite, G=generation.
                 

If lots originate at Cornell-Uihlein Farm, the first three generations (G1-G3) are also designated by a "U" to denote source.
